My grandfathers uncle was a merchant mariner from the 30's till his death in 1956. He was at or near Pearl Harbor at the time of that attack. I have often wondered what the war was like for him. Thanks for a little insight!
There were more Merchant Marines killed then any other American forces in WWII due to U boats yet to this day most Americans do not know that history due to government censorship. Opsec, as with classification, has historically and today, often used to hide government incompetence.

So sad how many American mariners were lost off the Atlantic seaboard and the Gulf Coast from 1941 to 1944. U2 boa
