Preparing for trouble.
This might be common sense to most folks but to a good many, what I am posting about will be new. What are you doing to prepare for the uncertainty of the future? We all know that things are going south with a quickness, so what are you doing to help your community or your group of people when whatever is going to happen actually happens? Buying up a stock of food is a relatively short term answer and buying up a lot of guns and ammunition is just a security blanket of sorts.
We often forget that what we need in times of trouble is community, and I think it is safe to assume that we all know that trouble is coming. We need our group of somewhat like minded people that will care for each other. There are certain skills that need to be had and no one person can have them all.
1. Medical knowledge and skills. Fire fighters, EMTs, Doctors, Nurses, those kinds of folks.
2. People that can build and fix things. Blacksmiths, welders, mechanics, electricians, carpenters, machinists.
3. Farmers. Kinda self explanatory.
4. Protectors. LEO, Combat arms related veterans, people with training and the will to actually fight and not just post gun memes on the interwebz.
5. A leader, not a manager. Someone that will serve the group and who the group will follow willingly. The person who can and will make decisions for the betterment of the group while under stress.
6. The spiritual leader/counselor. Kinda self explanatory.
We must have these type of folks in our world or our group isn't going to make it, the more we have the better a chance we have at success and survival. These people, ideally, would have the heart of a teacher so that they can teach the skills to the group as each person would be responsible for their own stuff to the best of their ability, but would inevitably need help from the expert. For example; I can grow a tomato plant, but if I needed to feed a group of people long term, well we'd be screwed... Farmers know that stuff better than most. I have basic trauma skills and some medical knowledge, but I don't know how treat major problems. You get the idea...
What skills are you actively developing? What information are you reading? What subjects are you studying? What are you spending your mental and emotional energy on that is actually within your geographical sphere of influence, within your bubble? What is going on in government is irrelevant to a large degree because it is out of our control. Whoever you vote for is not coming to save you and your people and no election is going to keep the inevitable from happening. We are heading for a fight. We are headed for some trouble that history shows to be severe. Identify and block out the distractions of the media and focus on what you can actually do in your world. What are you actively doing that is within your control? Living on social media and watching the main stream propaganda media don’t count. Learn the things that come naturally to you and practice them regularly. Most skills are perishable and will fade over time. Keep working at them and growing them so that you don't loose what you already have. Study and practice go hand in hand and you can't achieve growth with out study and practice.
Get moving. A body at rest tends to stay at rest. That applies to our bodies as well as in physics. Get healthy. Start eating healthier and cleaner. Maybe take some self defense classes or start training martial arts and no you're not too old to train martial arts. That doesn't meant that you need to be a gym rat, but find something that you enjoy doing that gets you moving and lay off the cookies and cokes.
My motivation in writing this this morning is to hopefully plant a seed in the minds of others and maybe to start a conversation of sorts. What are you actually doing to prepare yourself to help your community when the sh*t goes down? We will need each other so let's get moving and let's get to work.
